Please join us as we celebrate the birthday of the founder and chairperson of The Black Star Project, Mr. Phillip Jackson, on Saturday, September 22, 2018 with an Open House from 3 PM to 7 PM at 3509 S. King Drive - 2nd Floor. Our event features a food-tasting with specialties from local vendors, silent auction and a short program in honor of Mr. Jackson and Black Star. Mr. Jackson has faced some serious health challenges in recent months. We, the Black Star staff and Phillip’s family and friends, are taking this opportunity to encourage community recognition
of Phillip’s lifetime of work and enhance support for the mission of this important organization.
Building on the foundation of our successful education-based programs – such as the Million Father March and the Kimberly Lightford Saturday University – the Black Star Project is now focusing special attention on expanding financial literacy, investing and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Black community. Through our “Circulate Black Dollars” campaign, the “Building Chicago’s Next CEO” teen leadership program, and an upcoming financial education program for incarcerated individuals, we are increasing the knowledge of monetary principles and the capacity for economic success and self-determination in our community. Come join us! Celebrate Phillip Jackson and continue the legacy of the Black Star Project!
Please RSVP here by making a donation to The Black Star Project for a ticket to attend this event. Your contribution enables the ongoing work of the Project.
