The Kimberly Lightford Saturday University (KLSU) program aims to boost children's academic success and to raise communities' academic expectations and performance using Freedom School curriculum and concepts.

The YBMOH program connects participants The Young Black Men of Honor (YBMOH) mentoring program connects students ages 10-18 with strong, supportive men who encourage them to become positive forces in their communities. Topics include: mental health, conflict resolution, early career options, business in sports, and more.

The Building Chicago’s Next CEO (BCNC) program is for participants ages 16-24. Each cohort has a different business theme or topic. Past cohorts include: starting your own business, monetizing off of your talents, agile methodologies.

The Phillip Jackson Youth Mentorship Program (PJYMP) creates opportunities for middle schools and high school students from the South and West sides to set substantive goals and to work with a dedicated mentor. Students will hear from a range of guest speakers who are leaders in their fields such as college preparation, personal finance, community development, and self-discovery.

The Black Star Project has been dedicated to closing the academic achievement gap since its inception. We provide free tutoring and homework assistance to help bridge this gap and promote student success.
