Our Mission.
The Black Star Project (TBSP) is committed to improving academic and economic prosperity in Black and Latinx communities. Black Star works through a variety of educational economic empowerment programs, workshops, and events to empower these communities of color.
Our Impact
With 25 years of experience in outreach, The Black Star Project continues to be a community pillar. From its very beginning, TBSP has worked to improve the prosperity of Black and Latinx communities by offering a variety of youth programs aimed at closing the racial academic achievement gap.
The Black Star Project has offered more than 30 programs and initiatives during the course of its 25 years. Some of the most notable programs include: Building Chicago’s Next CEO, Million Father March, Saturday University, Young Black Men of Honor, Mayor’s Mentoring Initiative, Daddy-Daughter Dance, Parent University, Peace in the Hood, and Safe Passage.
TBSP’s success is largely attributable to its ability to evolve and expand. TBSP works in areas of economic empowerment, education, housing, violence prevention, mass incarceration, and workforce development.
