Last Thursday, The Black Star Project partnered with Brookfield Care to host a meaningful and impactful Volunteer Care Package event at our office.
The evening was a true celebration of community spirit, generosity, and teamwork!
Every donation we receive from November 18th through December 3rd (Giving Tuesday) directly supports our wide range of impactful programs, including the Phillip Jackson Freedom School, Kimberly Lightford Saturday University, Young Black Men of Honor, Phillip Jackson Youth Development Program, Ambassadors of Hope, and Building Chicago's Next CEO. These programs provide educational enrichment, mentorship, and leadership development to underserved students in our community. Your contributions enable us to offer these services at no cost, empowering youth with the tools they need to succeed.
This fall, The Black Star Project is excited to offer a lineup of educational and development programs designed to inspire and uplift our youth. We are offering four impactful programs: Kimberly Lightford Saturday University, Phillip Jackson Freedom School, Young Black Men of Honor, and Phillip Jackson Youth Development Program. These programs provide students with essential skills, knowledge, and mentorship for academic and personal growth. The cost is FREE!
We’re excited to announce that the Kimberly Lightford Saturday University (KLSU) is returning for another year of empowering young minds! This FREE academic enrichment program is designed for students in grades 4 through 8, providing them with the skills and support they need to excel academically.
The Building Chicago’s Next CEO (BCNC) program is back for 2024, offering young leaders aged 16 to 35 the opportunity to develop essential managerial skills to propel their careers forward. In an ever-evolving business landscape, having the right foundation in management is key to creating impactful change, and BCNC is dedicated to equipping the next generation of decision-makers with these vital tools.
We are thrilled to announce the revival of our Parent University system. Phillip Jackson implored the importance of parental involvement in their child's education and success.
Over 100 individuals attended the event, which was a great success. Young people from all over Chicago shared their incredible talents with the community, making the night even more special. The event was also an occasion to honor the winners of the Essay Contest, presented by TBSP and BDM Sports Education.
We had an action-packed year at The Black Star Project, and we're even more excited about what 2024 has in store for us.
